Photonics: A Raytracing Engine Mod

An Iris extension mod that enhanced Iris Rendering with a fully custom Raytracing solution. With its focus on performance, Photonics is able to run way faster compared to similar projects.

Notice

  • This mod is still in Alpha, bugs and compatibility issues are to be expected
  • Any mod that modifies Minecraft Rendering/Chunk loading will affect compatibility

Features

Photonics adds many visual effects that would not be possible without it's custom Raytracing engine:

  • Shadow-casting Light Sources: Every block casts shadows from every light source, resulting in realistic scenes full of crispy shadows.

  • Path Traced Block Lights: Enjoy the beautiful lighting of dozens of colored blocks

  • Path Traced Global Illumination (PTGI): Thanks to the power of Raytracing, occluded spots are subject to realistic lighting.

Trees are highly occluded, thus highly shadowed

  • 3D Blocks: Since the Raytracing Engine is based on voxels, it fully supports any type of 16x16x16 block models. Custom Models can also be implemented using MagicaVoxel.

Any block model can be altered to look more 3D-ish
